Finally!!!

Almost two years in the making, but now there is light at the end of the tunnel

DER ENGEL #3 is coming!

The book will be released at the Comic Salon in Erlangen on the 7th of June, as always, published by THENEXTART! So come to the TNA booth in Erlangen this June and get your signed copy and maybe a sketch

Das Thema ist weiterhin “Großstadthelden”, und dieses Mal speziell das Thema “Helden der Zukunft”.

29. Januar 2012 – Großstadthelden IV: The next generation

Zum Abschluss des Themas wollen wir unserer Phantasie noch richtig freien Lauf lassen. Thomas Leopold begibt sich mit Euch auf die Suche nach Helden in zukünftigen Großstädten. Wie können sich Gesellschaft und Lebensart plausibel entwickeln und was bedeutet das als Anforderung für einen Helden?

Vielleicht benötig ein Held der Zukunft vorrangig intellektuelle Fähigkeiten und charakterliche Eigenschaften und weniger körperliche Kraft und Gewandtheit. Wir haben es gemeinsam in der Hand, in welche Richtungen sich der Held der Zukunft entwickelt.

Now as I try to really get into the comic and concept art industry as a professional, I thought, that my own gallery on THE conceptart platform in the internet would be a good next step.

I already wrote about it in a recent post: My new comic project SACHSWULF, that I´m doing together with writer Perrudja.

Well, the work goes on successfully, and so I got a new piece of art to show here! It´s a more detailed concept for the main character of the comic by the name of Sachswulf. You can find a more sketchy version of this character in the previous post about this topic.

Cross fingers for us, that we´ll find a publisher for this story this year, because that is our goal, and why we´re doing all this work

Am kommenden Sonntag ist es wieder soweit: Die zweite Session des Comicademy Scribble Clubs mit dem Thema “Großstadthelden” findet statt. Hier der Auszug aus der Inhaltszusammenfassung für Sonntag:

“15. Januar 2012 – Großstadthelden II: Brot und Spiele

Um auch ganz sicher nicht zwangsläufig bei klassischen Superhelden zu landen, unternehmen wir in der zweiten Live-Videosession eine kleine Zeitreise. Vor dem Hintergrund einer antiken Großstadt wollen wir gemeinsam einen Helden entwickeln, der für die Gegenwart exotisch aber eben auch überzeugend wirken kann. So könnte sich z.B. ein Gladiator vom stumpfen Kämpfer auf Leben und Tod zu einem mutigen Helden für Gerechtigkeit entpuppen.”

I mentioned it in previous posts already, and now the real work started! I´m talking about a new comic project called SACHSWULF, which I´m doing together with writer Perrudja, with whom I already did the crime noir shortstory NACHTS.

This story will be something completely different though. It´s a history/fantasy story, taking place in the 6th century in todays Bavaria, Germany. It´s about war and love, history and myth, humans and “others”. Actually it´s pretty cool

With this project, I will try to break into the franco-belgian comic market. Perrudja and me will work on a pitch over the next weeks and months and try to sell the story to a publisher in Germany. Cross fingers for us!

Now after Perrudja finalized the written part, it was and is my turn to put the words into pictures. So yesterday I started with the first character sketches of the main characters Sachswulf, Ais and Alfher. They are far from being final, but nevertheless I want to share them here with you guys, as I also plan to let you take part in the whole project by posting the major steps on this blog.

So here are the sketches. Hope you like them!

I´m doing all in all four online classes at the German COMICADEMY throughout January. For a start, they all will be in German only.

The overall topic is “Großstadthelden” (Big City Heroes), and the first session will be all about The Counselor: The idea, the making and the development into a professional comic project.
